Guys. Come on. Shut up.

I really don't see why people are being so butthurt about the new generation. I think that the starters/legendaries are miles better than most of what we were given in Generation 5. They complain that they don't look enough like Generation 1, 2, and 3; but if they did, it wouldn't be diverse enough -__-. I honestly think that they look really nice and they're fun designs. The legendaries look really interesting too.

Then the fact that they're finally using 3D models is SO AWESOME. I mean, come on. ITS 3DS!! Do you really think they were going to continue with pixel base stuff for forever? No.

Then we have those people saying that Pokemon stopped at GBA. Obviously not. Pokemon still exists. And the games are still fun. They might not be better than the predecessors, I agree, but they're still Pokemon and they're still fun. I happen to have high hopes for this generation! And before we have more information I think you should be optimistic and expect the best.

...so...

bye.

I agree... these new pokemon when I seen them I was like YES!!!! No Ice cream or trash bag Starters... now if only they can destroy all the Magnemite, Voltorb, Klink, and all other mechanical pokemon that look man made but are stated as natural...T,T Im looking at you Klinklang... I say the ONLY man made pokemon that looks decent is Porygon

I honestly would prefer your fan made screenshot style for the new games as opposed to the 3D looks. I think it looks much more real and pulls you in, more than a bunch of rounded polygons and gimmicks. I saw your work on imgur from people saying they think the new 3D pokemon games should look like this, and it redirected me here, and I completely agree. I wish they were making it like yours instead :(

the only real complaint I have honestly is Xerneas. I honestly and truly think we have enough deer-esque-shaped-4 legged looking-deer ish pokemon.

Verizion, Suicune, Stantler, Sawsbuck, Deerling, Kobalion, and a hint of Dialgia if you look at it without too much detail.

Chespin reminds me of Oshawott/Dewott

And Im hoping for no more Pikachu spinoff pokemon we have too many.

but hey I keep my trust in Gamefreak this Gen, they said in words they are going to step their game up in creation, and so far the trailer is proving a plus. Just no more deer pokemon :(

I didn't really like the way they designed and named the gen V pokemon.
But it's not that bad. I still play the game :3
I can't wait for Pokemon X and Y to be released~!

Innovation is the spice of life. When things are predictable they are not engaging, and not worth the time to do so. I have no idea what that little grass thing's gonna evolve into, and that makes me SOOO excited! :D

With the possible exception of 4, I think each generation has gotten better. Not to say 4 wasn't good in it's own respects, but I feel it was the most loyal to the formulaic pattern of what Nintendo observed as having already been successful. They took like, no risks. Since I have not been disappointed!

Yes. I love the newly inspired designs and feel to the pokemon world. The way they act it's like their still living in the 80's-90's....it's 2013, their way much more out their to get ideas from. :)

I honestly haven't seen a single person complaining. Its the first generation since 3 that I've seen unanimous likeness across the board.

They got the legend's design down to a science, they are great, and they held back on them.

I disagree about the starters though, while they are great, better then gen 5? Snivy's popularity is probably greater then any non-kanto pokemon, and oshawott is pretty well recieved too.

Completely agree. I hate it that these nostalgia fags are so slow to get used to change. And then they claim that they're true Pokemon fans? Bullshit. True Pokemon fans like every generation.
I personally think Pokemon's gotten better with every generation. My fav used to be Unova, but now generation 6 has come out, judging by the starters and legendaries, I think I might have a new favourite :la:

Those nostalgia hipsters aren't real Pokémon fans, they just want to be cool because they know of the "good old gen1". I'm glad there are real fans like most commenters here who love any kind of progress in the Pokémon universe.

The reason Gen IV V and VI look different is because after the release of Ruby and Sapphire Game Freak America slowly participated in the Pokémon projects, rather than just translations. After the Successful Gen IV, Game Freak america took over Pokémon making their own Gen V. Hence why the designs and ideas for the game are so different. It's also why Unova is based of off many places in America.

It looks so cool! As always I'll have a fire starter I'm avoiding any pokemon based website for fear of haters putting me down like they do every gen :D People say I cant have opinions because I'm only seventeen and haven't played all the games... Seriously? I've been a die hard fan of pokemon since I could point enthusiastically at toys on a shelf.

Besides the original GAMES were rubbish, broken and had a small vastly uninteresting map. They're spreading out so much in recent games and getting better with each one!

I want the version with the magic elk, it reminds me of the elk in princess mononoke

I'm not trying to start an argument here, but how were the original games rubbish?

They managed to make a golden gameplay system on the most basic of systems, with absolutely no real reason.(it's not like pokemon was huge UNTIL the games came out).

I'd say that's as good as it gets for a system like the gameboy color, as proved by how much more interesting the maps were in LGFR and HGSS. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

because they were broken in system and movesets. It was easy to become overpowered or severely underpowered if you knew what to do/stumbled upon it by accident.

Maybe rubbish was too strong/innacurate because for the time it was very impressive and fun but people saying they were perfect ad the new ones are rubbish are looking through rose tinted glasses.

It'll hold dear memories and it's nice to look back on them but they weren't perfect, the games are improving each time

Hope I cleared things up!

Well, I knew what you meant, but my point was that I think people take this into consideration. I think what they mean is-

RBY-Perfect for IT'S time/compared to other games of the time
BW-Great, but par for the course graphics, same old battle system, etc.

As an example, we all know there's no way George Washington would be president if he was born in this era, there are just too many better trained politicians. But the fact he did what he did in his era, was far more remarkable then what say, bill clinton accomplished.

At least that's my explanation as to why people might think this haha

I think I said that in a way, although crudely worded because I'm just like that XD thing is the way people speak it's like the originals were the greatest games ever and don't take into consideration how outdated and worn they've become, you know? It was good for it's time but not anymore. Not that they're BAD. Just... You know what I mean?

I quite like the starters except the fire type and you can guess why and the legendaries that they showed. Sure I'm disappointed that we won't be making a secret base in a new land anymore... but hey, at least they've shown that their creativity hasn't died.

Remember when it was
"gen 3 is not pokemon, like 1 and 2.."

Now its gen 6 is not like 1,2,3..

Hoenn somehow magically slipped into the okay-to-like category. Man people are slow at getting used to new stuff.

Designs are kinda weird but I guess they can't keep the same style all the time. Thing change, styles change, it's normal. The main reason I complain is because it looks liks we won't get 3rd generation remake. c'mon, it is already mistreated by fans and even Nintendo but now they act like it didn't exist at all. What the fuck, Nintendo. What the fuck?

AHjsahajks yessss. I made a long ranting journal about this but the short version; YES. WHAT YOU JUST SAID ;O; I really love the legendaries I don't get people! They're the first boxart legendaries I've really liked since Gold and Silver :CC RSE/DPP/BWB2W2 looked way too robotic. I mean they grew on me but X and Y look so organic and nice *O* I really really love the new designs and dhskdhks Nintendo never leads us astray with Pokemon I really just am proud of these graphic jumps and I really think it's for the better *O*

Not happy with full 3D. My scumbag self says that the 3DS still has low graphic power. Due to Pokémon's awesomeness, it deserves way better graphics, like Wii U's, to say something.

The battles look better, though. I mean, it's the most important bit of Pokémon.

And it's too soon for a new Gen, not even 4 years and already another gen announced.

The 3DS is as powerful as the gamecube, if not more powerful. That's pretty damn powerful for a handheld system.

Also, Gen 2's Japanese release was only 3 years after Red and Green, while Gen 2's American release was only 2 years after Red and Blue.

Also, Pokemon, out of all of Nintendo's games, never fully uses graphical power, making it less reliant on powerful systems.

Well, I know its power is like a Gamecube's. But it's not as powerful.

And well, Pokémon Black and White look awesome, even those being for the DS, they look awesome. Why? Because they saved a lot of polygons from the characters (using only rectangles, 2 triangles, and then texturing them) and used them on the backgrounds and scenery.

No no no. It's at least as powerful as the gamecube. That means 3DS is greater than or equal to Gamecube, not less powerful.

No, I didn't mean a Pokémon for a home console, I meant that Pokémon would be better in 3D when a more powerful handheld console comes out, like to have the Wii U's power on it and so. Then, Pokémon would look as it deserves.

I've been playing pokemon since the original games and I've only been impressed with each passing generation.

Sure there have been some weird designs for some pokemon in the later games, but each generation brought something new and exciting to the table, and I can honestly say that the series has only improved as time went by.

I'm seriously looking forward to Gen VI. Though I admit I'll miss the 2D sprites, but we all knew the series would have gone 3D at some point. And with I've seen so far, we can expect some very awesome games.
